Nepal is one of the faunal rich countries in the world. It supports a notable faunal diversity in its unique biogeography from low land Tarai to high Himalayan ranges. Around 4% of the world’s mammals and 9.5% of the world’s bird species are recorded from Nepal. Two mammal species, the Himalayan wood mouse (Apodemus gurkha) and Csorba’s mouse-eared bat (Myotis csorbai), and a bird, Spiny babbler (Turdoides nipalensis) are endemic to Nepal. The more research on faunal diversity is yet to be explored. The newly recorded species of Nepal or in new location will be discussed under a Verification Processing Committee of NeZoS. This Committee will be developed with the group of species experts.
